Despite seemingly endless campaigns from the UK Government for healthier eating, the enduring recession has produced a surge in fast food sales as Brits opt for budget burgers instead of expensive meals.

This summer McDonald's have seen a dramatic increase in their UK turnover, where restaurants have been serving 100 million customers a month.

The unanticipated explosion in business has led to
drive-through lanes across the UK becomming congested. The global fast food giant has responded by adding dual entrances to several drive-through restaurants, allowing two drivers to order their meals simultaneously.

The new system is being tested at outlets in Telford, Shropshire, Kent and Edinburgh. If successful, the scheme will be expanded to include up to 50 additional McDonald's restaurants.
