China to auction Olympic condoms

Wednesday, 11 November 2009 , Posted by Ed Allen at 07:33

After the Beijing Olympics ended, one determined collector managed to acquire 5,000 of the 100,000 free condoms handed out to participating athletes. This collection has now been put up for sale as part of the one-off Exceptional Auction of China Sport Collection on 29 November.

The condom wrappers all carry the official motto of the Beijing Olympics – faster, higher, stronger – written in both English and Chinese.

The entire lot of 5,000 must be purchased by one buyer at a starting price of one yuan (£0.08; $0.15) each.

The first Olympic Games to distribute free condoms to competing athletes was Barcelona 1992 and since then it has become common practice for host cities to issue their own brand of contraceptive.

It's so easy to get caught up in the magic of the Olympics that you don't even think about the fact that after these athelets compete, they go home and sex it up. And it makes total sense: celebratory sex after a gold, pick-me-up sex after losing. And plus, it's thousands of athletes crammed into a housing complex who are all very fit, attractive, and young.

It's crazy that I never thought about it this way before.

This is a new way of looking at it when I am watching the gymnastics next I will be thinking of the after party. Droolll.

I for sure wouldn't want one, compared to China's lovely manufacturing tendencies.

Wouldn't even last one usage before being split or recalled for some chemical imbalance
