How great would it be to put a jet backpack on and fly to work? Well this will become a reality for a few people who can get their hands on one from Martin Aircraft Company.

Martin Aircraft Company a New Zealand based company have been given the go ahead to produce 500 units a year. This comes after the company secured an £8 million deal to produce this new tech.

They will run at 200 horsepower and have dual-propeller jets. The price tag for this product is going to be around £50,000, so start saving now. Because of the weight of the unit the user does not need to have a pilots licence to operate.

The rocket pack can travel 30 miles in 30 mins on a full tank of petrol. Apart from the great fun, entertainment and commuters benefits; the rocket pack could also be very useful for the military or public services.

Glenn Martin who unveiled his machine in July 2009 said. "For us this is an excellent commercial step. We have somebody who is willing to put £8m on the table because they believe there is a sizeable market in their country."
